I log on to the web and I turn on a TV channel and it’s not too long before I hear of a calamity or a tragedy in someone’s life.  The hard part about that is that many people create the tragedy and calamity in their own space before anything physically happens.

We create stories that tend to rule our day and form the foundation of the mindset from which we operate.

In order to shift from CAUTIOUS to COURAGEOUS, here are 10 things to STOP doing TODAY:

1.  STOP attempting to achieve the status of someone else
You are you. You are not Oprah. You are not Trump. You are not Jordan. You are not Obama. You are probably not even recognizable by one name yet. But who cares. Carve your own path BOLDLY!!

2.  STOP basing your journey on someone else’s
If they did it, so should you. If they did you have to do it too! HOGWASH!! Your skills, tools and talents are not the same as theirs. Your journey is going to be different. You may end up at a similar destination or rest area. But stop basing your journey on theirs because you will assume you have failed if you don’t do it how they did it.

3.  STOP criticizing yourself
You’re not perfect. No one is. It’s ok to look at growth areas so that you can see areas to improve. But, when you constantly and consistently talk about how bad you are at certain things, then you are just creating your OWN negative energy. STOP IT! Instead, talk about how you can simply become better.

4.  STOP criticizing others
Why are you wasting your time with this? You’ve got things to do. You’ve got things to create. The time that you spend doing this is time that you could be making YOURSELF better. Again, you are creating negativity and getting yourself used to being in that space.

5.  STOP watching non-productive TV or reading non-productive literature
I won’t begin to call any show names here but STOP IT!! OK, I agree that there are times that you should just relax with no expectations. Relax without worrying about progress. Honestly, you’ve got to have those moments. But, it’s sort of like eating junk when you’re on vacation and not expecting it to have an effect when you get back. Are you serious about your growth? Then you need to do what you have to do to get better.

6.  STOP hanging around complainers
Get rid of these people. I don’t care who they are. If it’s your mom or dad, then you need to limit your time with them. Get out of that space. It’s not healthy. Success doesn’t hang out here! They might be hard workers. They might be nice people overall. They might have good intentions. But that doesn’t serve you at all. It doesn’t serve what you are trying to accomplish.

7.  STOP hanging your head
You are allowed to have bad days. Everyone does. It’s ok. But stop walking around with your head hung down and your shoulders slumped looking for sympathy every day. It wears you out and it wears out the people that hang around you. Do you want the truth? If you do that often enough, they say stuff about you when you’re not there. I’m just telling you because, well…I care.

8.  STOP believing that success, wealth and everything extraordinary is meant for someone else
Yep. Some people ARE born with silver spoons in their mouths. Get over it!! That doesn’t have anything to do with you. Check out #1 and #2 on this list. You’ve got to believe that you can accomplish great things and EXTRAORDINARY things. Otherwise, you are simply surviving and existing. I get that a lot of people do that and maybe they have been worn down by life so much that they believe that is all they can do. But, I’m telling you here and now that inside of EACH of us exists even the smallest amount of hope if we are willing to grab it and ACT on it.

9.  STOP believing that PAIN means the end
Just because it hurts doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you. But, pain also doesn’t signal the end. In fact, it often makes you stronger. Should you go LOOKING for pain? Heck no!! Why?? Well, pain…uhhh..it HURTS! But, sometimes, when you are focused on a dream, focused on a result, you will have moments of pain. That pain does not signal the end of the journey.

10.  STOP running away
Are you quitting again? Are you giving up again? No wonder you haven’t accomplished anything yet. You keep doing that.

Does any of this resonate with you?  Do you see yourself in any of this?  I wrote it because I’ve seen myself in all 10 of these at one point or another.  It’s not a switch that you flip to turn these on and off.  It takes some work.  You’ve got to commit and put the work in.  And, you’ll probably need some help.  I know I did!

Good stuff here Bobby. I know you by one name does that count ;). I think another one should be stop waiting got someone else to do IT. I know often times for me because I am in a partnership I find myself saying oh well they can do that. However I’ve realized that if you recognize it needs top be done them you should probably be the one to do it or to see to it that it gets done.

Love the Web conference the other night to it was awesome. Keep up the good work my friend.
