Wow!  It’s hard to believe that this is my last post for the year.  2013 has really flown by and it has been a year of learning.  I have accomplished some pretty neat things this year.  And there are some other things that could have been done better.  But, all in all, it was a year of great learning and building for me.

So, now, as we look forward, many people are planning their goals and resolutions for the year.  Some are creating lists of things that they are going to do or stop doing.  Some are telling themselves that this year is going to be different.  What many don’t realize is that going after goals, especially ones that you failed at before, requires something more.  If you were not successful at a goal previously, that is an indication that something is not working.  There is something that needs to happen differently.  That THING is YOU!

I have been around people who attempt ideas or anything for that matter, and when it doesn’t work, their first response is to look at the equipment, the environment and everything else.  I remember when I was a child, when we would have races, there was one kid who would lose and blame his shoes.  The reason that he lost was always that he didn’t have the right sneakers that day.  Many of us are like that.  We blame the sneakers (or “trainers”, depending on what part of the world you come from).  We look for external causes for internal failure.

What would it be like if everyone simply decided that blame was no longer acceptable?  What if we all decided that we were all simply going to find a way to BE better?  What if we determined that next year wasn’t just going to be different but that WE were going to BE different instead?

Here’s how I’m ending my year.  I’m writing the things that I want to accomplish for next year and then I’m writing down who I have to BE in order to accomplish them.  Yes, that’s possible.  Take a moment.  Design the life that you want and then simply write who you would have to BE in order to achieve that.  Take the limits off.  There are no obstacles in that world.  Simply create and then determine who you would have to BE.  Then, simply BE.

BE bold! BE exceptional!  BE strong!  BE extraordinary!  BE powerful!  BE great!  BE empowered!  BE generous!  BE a catalyst! BE a leader! BE wealthy!  BE courageous! BE successful! BE!

In 2014, who are you going to BE?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
